Picture the perfect Instagram family.
The strong, wealthy, bread-winner dad. The healthy & fit, has-her-shit-together super mum, who drives the kids to school in her brand new fancy car..
The kids, in the best private school in the city, excelling in sports, music, extracurricular activities, with a stacked calendar of exciting social events ahead.
They take 2-3 holidays a year to new and exotic destinations, always getting incredible social media content along the way (of course).
The holiday season brings Christmas presents to the value of an average yearly income and they celebrate it well in the new beautiful home they designed themselves, in the most exclusive part of town.
And of course, they are so very, very happy.
Everything for them is perfect.
Or so it seems…
But under the surface…
The kids barely see dad. He’s up before they leave and home very late each night.
There’s always a new fire at work to put out. When he gets a chance to relax, he enjoys his whiskey- maybe a little too much. He does his best, but with all the stress and pressure he is under, sometimes he lashes out.
Mum, stressed to the brim. Drowning in anxiety, running on caffeine, driving around town for her kids like an Uber driver. Participating in the toxic gossip circles of other mums. Missing the intimacy and connection with her husband that she hasn’t felt in years. Feeling like an on-demand chef & maid who hasn’t had a real, deep conversation with her children in years.
The kids, overwhelmed by the expectation of all they have been "given".
Confused in a world of a million different "influencers" pulling them in a million different directions. Feeling like they are not enough, needing to be older, to be someone else.
The daughter is spending hundreds of dollars on makeup at a time.
The son is confused, being told what it is to be a man from strangers online with very questionable motives.
Both spending every waking moment at a screen, a game, on TikTok, Snapchatting who-knows-what.
Struggling with mental health issues & eating disorders, self-harming.
Scared, uncertain, alone, confused and angry.
And this big mess all colliding together…
Creates a challenging family dynamic that usually swings between 2 poles.
Either the drill "Sergeant" parents, who are trying desperately to get their kids to behave in a "normal" way. Creating stricter and stricter rules. Harsher & harsher punishments. And suffocating their kids with tighter & tighter boundaries.
Or the "Servant" parents. Who just end up being glorified Uber drivers & chefs for their kids who do not appreciate but expect it. They are on standby 24/7 to drive, cook, clean, support whatever is needed, without ever having a real conversation with the kids.
At the heart of it is this great disconnection.
Both parents and kids, completely missing each other. No understanding. No common ground. Like strangers living in the same house. Passing ships in the night.
The parents are all alone in this fight.
They are up against insurmountable obstacles.
It seems the whole world is against them in trying to just have a normal, happy family life.
- Social media apps, technology, Snapchat, music, culture, streamers, turning their kids into strangers they barely recognise.
- Their own careers & businesses that are supposed to support the family, but end up feeling like its biggest enemy.
- The big ideal of a perfect family they can’t live up to.
- The school system that is completely missing the mark
- And a broader, deeper "system" that profits of their disempowerment
And in this fight, the parents end up unconsciously replicating or running from what they received from their parents as children.
They have tried it all.
- They’ve tried to pay their way out of it.
- Paid for private schools, tutors, councilors, psychologists
- Tried ignoring it, hoping it'll fix itself.
- Tried talking & complaining about it with other parents
- Accepted it as "normal" like everyone else
- They may have self diagnosed their kids or themselves with some condition or label
- Gone down a rabbit hole of self-help & psychology books that only led them in circles
- They may have turned into an unwelcome personal coach for their child
- Put all their attention and focus on the problem, which only perpetuates the problem.
They know there must be a better way.
They know there is greatness in their kids and want to unlock it.
All they want is a happy, loving family.
But they never expected it to be this hard.
No one ever prepared them for this.

This is us, in 2018…
We were running a successful & rapidly growing nation chain of health clinics
We had the stacked calendar with our 3 kids, with not an empty afternoon
We were running around from sporting event, to social gatherings, to school and back
Doing more, more and more
Thinking that was the answer
Meanwhile, our kids were having challenges we didn’t know how to solve
Our son was getting in trouble at school and we were beginning to watch his light & spark begin to dim.
We were being told he wasn’t smart enough, good enough, that he was a bad kid.
We could see the frustration in him
We knew how great he was
See, we thought we had done everything right, but something wasn’t adding up.
We knew this wasn’t the path.
There had to be a better way.
We wanted to see our children thrive and be the best they could be
But the common approach was clearly broken…
So we began to explore alternatives.
We began to ask the question… "What do we wish that we were taught growing up?"
See, we had spent 100s of thousands of dollars on personal, business and spiritual development over the previous 2 decades while building our businesses.
And even though we had 3 tertiary degrees and Anthony had a title of doctor to his name, the most valuable lessons that had made a significant transformation in the quality of our lives and relationships had actually come from other courses & programs we had engaged in.

So that way, they would know at 14 years of age what took us 40 years to learn.
